The week before a "Fiona Mac Wedding Ceremony" she shares these top 10 tips with all her brides.
The days leading up to your special day can get very busy, so it is good to pause and spend some time planning for the morning of your wedding ceremony.
Here are Fiona's top 10 tips on how to stay calm and enjoy the build-up to the most wonderful day of your life.
Plan some exercise the evening before or on the morning, to get some fresh air and clarity for the day ahead. Although not a marathon, just a walk or short jog, get those endorphins and happy vibes going!
Make sure you get a good night's sleep the night before the ceremony day. Sleep is your absolute best friend. Plan a relaxing evening the night before, maybe a pamper session with your besties, or a long, luxurious bath, to keep you chilled and allow sweet dreams.
Make sure you have a schedule for the timings for the day and give the responsibility to someone in your bridal party to keep an eye on it, so you can relax. Stick to these times and if you can be early, that’s a bonus and will relax all around you.
Ask one of your bridesmaids to mediate with the florist, wedding coordinator at the venue, etc. so you are not being drawn into last-minute decisions. Make sure it is someone you trust so they can make quick decisions on your behalf, it's not a day for dithering!
Mute less important SM messages, or better still give your phone to someone you trust, so you are not constantly interrupted.
Keep yourself well-hydrated and eat a snack before leaving for your wedding ceremony, it is such an exciting part of the day that sometimes you forget to eat and all that adrenaline and excitement on the way to the ceremony is not advisable.
Make sure you have a calming playlist of your favourite music on hand, while you are getting ready, this makes such a difference to you arriving in a great mood.
Put together an “emergency kit” – makeup touch-ups, safety pins, tissues, toothbrush, cotton pads, paracetamol, perfume, phone chargers, plasters, anti-allergy wipes, and Vaseline. etc in a cosmetic bag, that comes to the ceremony.
Do some deep breathing and try and stay in the moment throughout the build-up and at the ceremony. Believe me, the day will whizz by, so make sure you can remember key moments.
Your Bridesmaids and Maid of Honour – It’s their job to bring energy to the day, and all fun vibes, ask them to take some relaxed photos before the formal ones are taken. They should make sure everyone is on time for their hair and beauty, leaving you, the bride to stay calm and chilled. The night before, they could steam the dresses, and on the day dress the bride. MOH should then ensure the bride’s dress and train, (if you have one), are positioned correctly during the ceremony and for the all-important photos.
All will help you, to enjoy a stress-free Wedding Ceremony, I promise!
