Clare Smith
Associate Trainer
Hi I'm Clare and it's so lovely to meet you! Over my career as a busy Professional Celebrant, I’ve had the privilege of crafting many beautiful and bespoke funeral and wedding ceremonies.
Originally, my background was in customer care, working in reception for a top class London hotel. Switching careers, I’ve had the joy of working for over twenty years in a village primary school.
Becoming a celebrant literally changed my world overnight. My work has become a passion and it is the most rewarding job I could ever wish for!
The day I left the training room behind me, I imagined my heart would be in delivering wedding ceremonies and, although I enjoy being a part of each couple's magical day, it is writing and delivering bespoke funeral services that has given me the most fulfilment. Working with families, as their world changes forever, helping them to re-visit long-lost memories I ensure that their last moments with loved ones becomes another beautiful and cherished memory. It’s a role that just keeps giving and I cannot recommend it enough!Â
Working as a celebrant has given me a renewed passion for learning and I’m thrilled to be part of the Celebrant Circle training team. I relish supporting our students and sharing my passion for the role, helping them as they step into this new and exciting career.Â
When I'm not helping families or couples, you will often find me pottering in my garden ( I love my Dahlias) or walking my Welsh Spring in the countryside. My neighbour and I have had a gate installed in our garden fence, which has been fondly named the ‘Gin Gate! A book is never far from my side, and having learnt to crochet during lockdown, I'm always in the middle of making another blanket for my local care home. Pushing myself out of my comfort zone, I became a member of my local i-Sing choir and have performed in everything from flash mobs to festivals and we love raising money for local charities
